1947 Mercury fourdoor sedan w/ suicide doors. 8 cyl. Flathead Engine
This car belongs to my best bud Deric Gomez. He currently resides in good ol' Azusa California with his wife Liz and two kids Orion (days old...congratulations!!) and Kylie.
This was his father in-law's car. He bought it about 9 months ago - in which it previously sat in a yard for 5+ yrs. Besides it being very dusty, it was in pretty decent shape as far as rust and body goes. However, the engine was frozen and it took months of putting fluids on the pistons and valves to break it free. Enter the Chevy Tahoe (cause we all know a Ford couldn't get it done...) in second gear. A few tugs and she finally turned over. Deric and his pops Michael, aka "Gomie", continued flushing the fluids and working out the electrical - which took a few months - and finally got her to run!!!
Since then, he has cleaned up the engine, put in new water pumps, radiator, starter, fuel pumps, whitewall tires, new grille (rechromed) and some miscellaneous accessories. He plans on leaving the stock flathead engine in it and will just add some minor accessories here and there. He has added some "bat wings" bumper guards and has purchased some Mercury fog lights but has yet to install them. Another interesting fact is that all the glass on the car is original!!!
Thanks Deric for sharing this gem with Cody and I and allowing us to post some pics.
